Information on C.R.T. Certified Repair Technician Training

MUST HAVE E.I.C. EMISSION INSPECTOR CERTIFICATION

This course is to certify students to write waivers. If a shop wants to provide waivers for customers that have failed the emission test and have performed the required repairs and the vehicle still fails, the customer may be entitled to a waiver. Please note that this certification is only to write waivers.

If the technician has any of the following training he will qualify for his Certified Repair Technician license.

  • A-8 ENGINE PERFORMANCE
  • T-1 TRUCK GASOLINE ENGINES
  • ASE-L1 Certification
  • Approved manufacture training programs.
  • Approved Out of State Emission License


  • The student will need to bring a copy of his current certificates to (E.I.C.) class and fill out the necessary paper work. There is no charge for this.

    If the technician does not have any of the above, he can obtain his (C.R.T) license in one of the following ways.

  • 1. Complete the FIRST 48 hour training program.
  • 2. He may take the ASSESSMENT / CHALLENGE TEST.

  •                           ( 2 50 question tests scoring 70% for passing)
